sunday seven

/ new laptop - bought for work use. It seemed easier to get a new one to play with than fiddle with the existing machines to create a dual boot system. Plus it's a laptop so it will allow for portable entertainment of child when needed.

/ MrTops setting up the new laptop to become dual boot. I've never been particularly interested in system administration. MrTops has more interest and a teensy bit more experience with it. So even though I'm the unix person, he is setting it up.

/ ubuntu installation of Linux. Making it very easy to install all the extra bits of software I need to get working.

/ empty sandpits left in the rain. The torrential rain filled the sandpits and child had a pool for a few days before the water got too manky. Child had great time in the large puddles of water.

/ blender and pepper grinder from grandma. I cringe at the thought of someone on a pension giving me expensive gifts but these are two item that we will use. They were on the list of stuff that we sort of wanted but could live without.

/ a house free of guests. I'm exhausted. I know grandma is exhausted. Guests are fun to have but you can never quite let your guard down. Certainly the midnight nude dashes to the loo were always a little chancy. And our household consumption of butter will drop dramatically now grandma is gone. And the rest of the diet will contain far fewer treats from now on.

/ kid's dance and games day. Cast of thousands. Just about all the SCA kids we know in spitting distance were there. We successfully got all of them to dance two dances and then play tierce. The tierce was surprisingly fun. Mostly because we got to see excited and mostly bewildered kids running around like mad things. And then occasionally two adults would be in play and then no quarter was given. I'm glad there were so many people there. I think all the kids got something out of it and hopefully will want to play again.
